As well as orthodontic braces being used to close the gaps between teeth, patients also need their teeth aligning into position for a correct 'bite'. Rubber bands or elastics are often involved in this stage of treatment; one on each side of the mouth to move your teeth and jaw into the proper alignment. Hooked between a bracket attached to your top canines and a bracket attached to one of your bottom molars.

These bands must be removed during meals as well as when cleaning your teeth. Typically expect to replace bands daily.
